Choosing Light in Every Moment

In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, positivity becomes a superpower. It’s not about ignoring challenges or pretending that life is always perfect. Instead, it’s about choosing to focus on the good, finding strength in the small victories, and embracing hope even during difficult times.

Positivity isn’t just an abstract concept; it’s a practice.

How to Cultivate Positivity

1. Practice Gratitude Daily

Take a few moments each day to reflect on the things you’re grateful for. Gratitude shifts your focus from what’s missing to what’s abundant in your life.

2. Surround Yourself with Uplifting People

The people you spend time with have a huge impact on your mindset. Seek out those who inspire and encourage you, and distance yourself from negativity when possible.

3. Find Joy in Small Moments

A warm cup of coffee, a kind smile, or the beauty of a sunset—positivity thrives when we appreciate life’s simple pleasures.

4. Reframe Negative Thoughts

When you catch yourself thinking negatively, pause and reframe the thought. Instead of “I can’t do this,” try, “This is challenging, but I can find a way through.”

5. Take Care of Yourself

Physical and mental health are deeply connected to positivity. Exercise, eat well, get enough rest, and take time for activities that bring you joy.

6. Spread Kindness

A small act of kindness can brighten someone’s day and bring you a sense of fulfillment. Positivity grows when shared.

Choosing Positivity Daily

Life is unpredictable, and not every day will be easy. But positivity is a choice you can make each morning when you wake up. It’s a decision to face life’s challenges with courage, to focus on solutions rather than problems, and to trust that even the darkest night will lead to a brighter dawn.

By cultivating positivity, you not only transform your own life—you create a ripple effect that touches everyone around you. So, take a deep breath, smile, and choose light in every moment. The world becomes a better place when you do.

Sunshine On My Shoulders

When clouds grow heavy, skies turn gray,

Hope whispers softly, lighting the way.

In darkest hours, the sun still waits,

Beyond the storm, beyond closed gates.

A golden glow, a gentle rise,

The promise held in morning skies.

For even nights must greet the dawn—

Hope and sunshine carry on.

The Rhythm of My Soul

alone
in the dark
my heart beats
a nagging rhythm
a wordless song
of love and longing
deep, intense, immense
revealing my soul's passion
yearning for connection
perhaps a song from
distant shore
can lull me
to sleep

Two Years Ago...

pain beyond compare
heart enmeshed in sorrow
gasping for air
hurdling a big blow

that was how it all started
just one small step
to let go of a departed
like a kid out of prep

thoughts formed into words
images from darkness
emotions stirred like restless birds
pressed to find a nest

as rants were spewed in ink
  heavy chest slowly cleared
burdened mind back in sync
aching soul lost its sneer

vibrant colors soon appeared
as darkness ebbed away
the wind at last veered
giving way to hope's brilliant ray

When I started this blog, I had no expectations at all. What I needed was an outlet... a place  of my own where I could freely vent my emotions. Back then, this blog was dark- black, gray and white.  Now it's splashed with colors. Exactly two years in existence and the sun continues to shine. To all my blog friends who supported and encouraged me in more ways than one, thank you so much!

Today also marks another anniversary... the day when sunshine walked into my life. A gift of second chance. I am forever grateful! :)

"How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core where I've become so numb
Without a soul, my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home..."

Milestones (Haiku)

T'was five years ago
When my world turned upside down
Overwhelming grief!

An unbeaten soul
Strengthened by a firm resolve
I refused to bend.

Slowly but surely
Towards the glimmer of light
One step at a time.

Bracing the darkness
Off I went to tunnel's end
From courage sprung hope.

A tragic end but
A new beginning ensued
From thence a fresh start.

 Join the fun!

Next week’s theme: Freestyle! Whatever you want!

Happy Weekend

Looking forward to my lazy Sunday...

My son's recurrent fever has been a great source of stress and worry these past few days. Now that he is feeling better, I am sure to enjoy tomorrow my usual lazy Sunday. What a relief!

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Sunshine In Her Ravaged Soul

She lay on the bed, her eyes closed as if sleeping
I didn't mean to wake her
But when she heard my voice
She forced a smile as if to reassure me
That she was okay.

I was there to visit her
But she was first to ask how I was doing
I meant to ask but she carried on
And I ended up blabbering
About my new job and my new life.

She gave a hearty laugh at my jokes
She was her usual bubbly self
We talked about her treatment
And how she is looking forward to next month
When we need to fulfill our work commitment

She apologized that she cannot join us
You see, we have an important meeting tomorrow
I assured her that we, her friends, will take care of it
She smiled and showed contentment
Then excitedly discussed again our forthcoming assignment.

I went there with a heavy heart
Scared, knowing how cancer has ravaged her delicate body
She has fought well and is fighting still
Every time I see her she speaks with pride
About all the new medications she has tried.

It's radiation this time, she said
You see, lesions were found on her spine
She finds it funny how she always took her legs for granted
Realizing her folly only after
Her limbs went numb.

I blew her a kiss before I left
And she blew one back at me
Upon seeing this exchange
Her mom beamed with pride
In her heart, she knows her child will be alright

I couldn't help but smile
The visit was not what I expected it to be
She left no room for pity
She is embracing all of life
Or what remains of it

She is like the sun
Whose rays brightly glow
Amidst the dark clouds
That try to hide its glory
Truly a sight to behold

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward to the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage and confidence." ~ Og Mandino

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.
