The Muffed Target

Welcome to the The Muffed Target

Every Tuesday, my very good friend Thom at Thom's Place 4 Well Whatever hosts The Muffed Target which run by these rules:

"Each Tuesday post a picture which is completely crazy, messed up, with nothing on etc, which normally you would immediately delete. It can be everything, like only shoes instead of the whole person, a blurred building or whatever you want. Then tell us the little story how it happened and what it should have been..."

My Son, My Son...

My son was an altar server during the Thanksgiving Mass for the canonization of Saint Candida Maria de Jesus, their school's foundress. It was a big event as it was officiated by the Archbishop himself as well as several other priests at the San Pedro Cathedral.

Being the stage mom that I am, I clicked and clicked on my cellphone camera as soon as my son appeared during the entrance march. Of course, since it was a solemn event, I was the only parent who dared to take photos inside the church. After all, that was my son there...

Well, with his back turned as he walked past me...

That's my son alright... I could not get a clear shot so I ran to the front pew.  Here's a clearer shot... of the candle stand he was holding! LOL!

I hope you enjoyed the photos. :D

Have I Forgiven This Man?

Have I really learned to forgive?
I thought I have
But today I came face to face
With one of the men
Who caused us our grief
Five years ago...

When he walked into the room
I knew right away that
This was the moment
I've long waited for
Here he was on a table next to ours
At a party hosted by James' cousin...

The man who caused our grief
In the same room with me
My mind raced, my heart skipped a beat
I searched my soul for answers
A lump formed in my throat
Have I really forgiven this man?

have i really forgiven this man?

Travelling Through Life (Haiku)

As I take a step
Towards the unknown future
I go forth bravely

With you by my side
A reassuring presence...
Nothing scares me now

Together we shall
Tread the path that awaits us-
A whole new journey

Challenge! (Haiku)

setbacks and roadblocks,
spices to victorious sweeps...
refuse to give in

daunting it may seem,
twists and turns or uphill climb...
persist and you'll win

don't you dare quit now
obstacles and snags could be
blessings in disguise

Odes For Dad (Haiku) and Poetry Awards

A SWIMMING LESSON FROM DAD

when i was a child
my dad taught me how to swim
a lesson well taught

little did i know
that my dad's drills at the beach
equipped me for life

for this long journey
sometimes forced me to confront
angry waves at sea

swim i did through life
through rough seas and calm waters
dad was there waiting

"well done," he would say
at the end of each channel
beaming with great pride

A MAN OF GREAT FAITH...
THAT'S MY DAD

a few years ago
when his life hung on thin thread
he fought to survive

he opened his eyes
then started making fun of
his disheveled look

we held back our tears
his laughter was contagious
so we laughed with him

he suffered a stroke
yet grateful his life was spared...
amazing fervor

life's ironic twist
did not dampen his spirit
his strong faith prevailed

he may have slowed down
but his zest for life stayed on...
my inspiration

until now he beams
like sunlight spreading love's warmth...
eternally bright

Papa, I hope you know how much we all love you. You are the best dad in the world! Thank you so much for being a beacon of light in my darkest moments. Without you, I wouldn't have found the courage to stand up again.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

a recognition from jingle

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward to the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage and confidence." ~ Og Mandino

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.
