A Divine Promise

"Hear that uproar from the city,
hear that noise from the temple!

It is the sound of the Lord

repaying His enemies all they deserve."

Isaiah 66:6

Cold blooded murders... Abductions and unexplained disappearances (men ending up as "desaparecidos")... Hooded armed men... Motorcycle-riding gunmen... Brutal rape and slaying of innocent women and children... Vicious killings and kidnappings by terrorist groups in the guise of rebellion, political cleansing and ideological struggle... Wayward youth whose lives have been destroyed by drugs... Statistics are rising fast at the expense of hapless families.

This is the only place in the world where "salvage" is more known to refer to summary killings instead of its legal meaning of saving a vessel, goods or life from the perils of the sea.

"Collateral Damage" was the title of the movie that James and I enjoyed watching in the past. A few years later, collateral damage was attached to his name, now a "desaparecido" (one who has disappeared) himself. I guess one will never know the depth of such pain unless you have experienced grave injustice yourself.

I have been asked too many times how I have learned to forgive. The answer lies in the promise that my GOD gave me one early morning four years ago... a promise that was conveyed to me in an unequivocal manner...

"Truth is nowhere to be found,
and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey.
The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.

He saw that there was no one,
He was appalled that
there was no one to intervene; so His own arm worked salvation for Him, and His own righteousness sustained Him.

He put on righteousness as His breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on His head;
He put on the garments of vengeance
and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.

According to what they have done, so will He repay wrath to His enemies and retribution to His foes; He will repay the islands their due."

Isaiah 59:15-18

Since then, I have totally surrendered all anger, bitterness, vindictiveness and hatred in my heart. Forgiveness came easy by accepting that vengeance, which does not truly lie in my hands, had been promised.

Today, this promise was reiterated in God's own words...

"For the day of vengeance was in my heart,
and the year of my redemption has come.
I looked, but there was no one to help,
I was appalled that no one gave support;
so my own arm worked salvation for me and
my own wrath sustained me.
I trampled the nations in anger;
in my wrath I made them drunk and
poured their blood on the ground."
Isaiah 63:4-6

He validated it through the story of King Solomon (1 Kings) and demonstrated how He met all His covenants to His people.

The message remains:

He fulfills all His promises.

Here's wishing you all a blessed and meaningful Good Friday!

Blessings to all,

Of Dying and Living

For what is it to die

but to stand naked in the wind

and to melt into the sun?

And what is it to cease breathing

but to free the breath

from its restless tides,

that it may rise

and expand and seek God

unencumbered?

Only when you drink

from the river of silence

shall you indeed sing.

And when you have reached

the mountain top,

then you shall begin

to climb.

And when the earth

shall claim your limbs
,
then shall you

truly dance.

From The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran

Wishing you all a time of PEACE, REFLECTION
and HAPPINESS this Lenten Season!

A Season's End

"There are times where you or that person has changed
to the extent that it's necessary to let go of the friendship,
so that each of you can fulfill your life path."

People in our lives come and go. There are good reasons why some friends, with whom we shared a substantial part of our being, are no longer in our lives now. We must learn to accept that much of living is all about moving on.

When you have formed an attachment to people, it is quite painful to realize that it is time to let go. This poem, which I first came across in an email, explains why there are those who get to stay in our lives and why some people don't.

Reason, Season or a Lifetime

When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person...

When someone is in your life for a REASON. . .
It is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are!
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part,
or at an inconvenient time, this person will say
or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met,
our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered.
And now it is time to move on.

Then people come into your life for a SEASON....
Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons:
things you must build upon in order to have
a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all
other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but
friendship is clairvoyant.

How much of this poem, can you relate to?

On my part, a season has just ended. I am letting go and moving on. Thank you for everything.

Top Droppers for March

I suspect I did not make it to anyone's list again. I'm so sorry for that. My schedule got so hectic that I hardly have the energy each night to blog surf the way I used to.

However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my top droppers for March including those who did not make it to my list but have consistently visited my blog and left their comments.

Thank you everyone for the drops and comments. I also appreciate the sites which hosted my adverts as well as those who put their ads in mine.

I am so glad that everything is back to normal at Entrecard. Thank you to those who stood up for all of us.

A Special Gift From Someone Very Special

"To give a gift is a gift within itself."
The Generosity Award

from
Kat of Candles Crafts and Whatnot
and Soy Wax Candles Blog

True to her word, I received a package from Kat today. It was sent by air mail- from the US to the Philippines.

When Kat and I started communicating outside the blogosphere, that's when I found out that her sweetness and thoughtfulness go beyond words. This friend has no idea at all how much her encouragement meant to me. On those times when I doubted myself, she rooted for me and made me believe in my writing skills again. She threw in ideas when I felt that I ran out of things to write about.

We laughed together at our silliness and felt bad for each other's sorry state. We exchanged pictures of our families and loved ones. She cheered me up with all those photos of Edward Cullen which have found their way to my Facebook photo album. :D

The friendship goes beyond the silly and mundane stuff though. I found a kindred spirit here... perhaps my sister in a past life.

So when I saw what were inside the package, my heart melted.

She sent me a lovely handmade RED (our favorite color!) Polymer Clay covered pen (with a short description and instruction for refilling). What made it more special is the fact that she did it herself! Awwwwww the sweet message in her card moved me to tears.

Sweet Kat, thank you so much for being a wonderful friend! I am truly grateful!

To give back the love that Kat gave me, I am giving out ALL THESE AWARDS, together with the Generosity Award--

The "Life Is Grand" Award
from Kat

The Passionate Blogger Award
from Kat

I Heart Your Blog Award
from Bingkee of I Love/Hate America
whose chronicles of her life in the US
(especially her love story with her handsome prince charming)
and her nostalgic account of her life in
our beloved Davao City never fail to entertain/amuse me

The Sisterhood Award
from Candlemamma of Candlemamma's Candles
who makes fabulous highly fragranced candles

TO the following friends whose great blogs and the comments they leave here continue to inspire and empower me:

The Generosity Award Rules are:
1) Show generosity towards others in the blogging community by giving a small gift of appreciation. This can be free advertising, a card in the mail, or anything else your imagination takes you.
2) Send this award to at least five others. If you wish to send the award to more then that, feel free to. Generosity has no limits.
3) Link back to the person who sent you this award.
4) Copy the rules as well as the award into your post.
5) Enjoy yourself and have fun!

Kat, the I HEART YOUR BLOG and SISTERHOOD AWARDS are also for you.

Since I'm not crafty like Kat and I hardly have time to run to the bookstore for a card, please allow me to put your badges on my sidebar for a month by way of free advertisement.

Some of you may already have these awards but I still want you to accept them as a token of my appreciation for your friendship. Please don't feel any pressure at all to post them. They are my "gift" to all of you.

Blessings to all,

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward to the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage and confidence." ~ Og Mandino

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.
