Mother's Lullabye

sleep my baby sleep
mommy's here for you to keep
together we shall be counting sheep

hush my baby hush
can you hear the mocking thrush
singing like a nightingale at first blush

rest my baby rest
i shall hold  you close to my chest
on my shoulder your head may crest

The Green Dragon's Quest

there was once a green little dragon
who lived in a faraway mystical jungle
his eyes were blue
and full of rue
he was alone
on his grandiose throne
and so one day he decided to roam
to seek the legendary gnome
but found instead a lonely blossom

"why are you sad?"
the green dragon asked
"because i am ugly...
i look like no other and i don't feel cozy,"
the blossom replied
"but that is exactly why you are a beauty,"
the green dragon cried
"there's no one here like you
you are unique
so don't be blue"

she looked around and said,
"yesssss... i am me
and i am pretty!"
  the blossom started to sway
to the wind's gentle play
and the green dragon went on his way
back at his throne
he laid prone
with a big smile and not a groan

If we can bring poetry back into the lives of our children,
we can transform our world.

Little Birdie A-Chirpin'

a little birdie
came flying through my window
one cold winter morn

chirpin' to be fed
poor birdie must be hungry
no worms are in sight

please don't cry li'l one
we'll find you birdseed to eat
come sit on my hand

chirpin' a chirp chirp
little birdie spreads its wings
then flies up away

A Child's Walk

tippety top tippety toe
raggedy doll in tow
i walk to and fro
then oh so slow
i go
out into the fold
where the wind gently blows

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward to the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage and confidence." ~ Og Mandino

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.
