If God brought you to it,
He will get you through it.

Sunset (Haiku)

Like the setting sun
Life soon finds its horizon
The dark sky beckons

We work hard to live
Is this all there is to life?
Each day a struggle

Meaningless pursuit
Of material wealth and fame
Life wasted on greed

All on borrowed time
You are nothing when end comes
Soon forgotten too

Surely there must be
A greater purpose, deeper
Reason why we're here

Bravo, Pretty lady!
You write one of the best haikus...I mean it...
You write one of the best funnies too, miss you last week.
hope everything is fine.
love you!
hugs
shakira

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 12:15 AM

shakira, thanks. sorry things are not alright that's why i missed the funnies. :(

Sandee June 10, 2010 at 12:56 AM

Beautiful Bing. Yes, there is a higher purpose why we are here. We all just need to find what that is for us.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

Jenn@ You know... that blog? June 10, 2010 at 1:03 AM

Lovely words, with some darkness behind them. You're sounding a bit lost, Bing - I hope you're ok, and things turn around for you. You certainly have a wealth of friends; just look around you! Not just a bunch of fancy haiku-ers and pretty faces here.

*hugs*

Anonymous June 10, 2010 at 2:09 AM

Excellent my friend. That higher purpose...US plain and simple. To be what we want, do what we want and be as we can :) okay my friend...what's up? Something going on that has made you a little down? You know you can email me if you need to talk. There are many that do care and love you and just know we are here for you. Just remember what we talked about last week for your haiku and always my friend...always...be positive. You might have to work a little harder when you are down at achieving that but you are SOOOO capable of overcoming anything. Smile big. Much aloha and sunshine sent your way.

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 7:46 AM

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 7:47 AM

jenn, thank you for the assurance. yes i found good friends here and i am so thankful for that. thanks for the hugs.

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 7:57 AM

thom thanks for the sunshine. =)

it's a little bit dark here and i'm still trying to sort things out. something happened last saturday (after that friday disco) which sent me spiraling down.

there are battles we face everyday... and we fight hard... but we get to a point when we ask ourselves where we're headed to.

don't worry friend, i'll bounce back like i always do. sorry, i didn't mean to spread darkness here.

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 7:57 AM

Magical Mystical Teacher June 10, 2010 at 9:50 AM

Sadly, some people never find that higher purpose...

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 8:02 PM

magical mystical teacher, that's really sad. sometimes though, i envy those who really don't give a hoot.

Anonymous June 10, 2010 at 10:35 PM

Very nice. There is a much greater and deeper meaning that has absolutely nothing to do with materialism but everything to do with love and acceptance of ourselves and others. Keep searchig and you will find it.

Ria June 10, 2010 at 10:39 PM

Love that - and a great song

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 11:38 PM

suzicate, it's a never-ending quest, isn't it?`that is what life is all about. bondage to material things is anathema to bliss =)

Bing Yap June 10, 2010 at 11:38 PM

ria, i'm glad you like the poem and the song. thanks for dropping by. =)

My dearest Bing...
You are first and foremost an AMAZINGLY STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL WOMAN.
Whatever happens, it is alright to feel and be real, you know, that is what life is all about.
I just want you to know that YOU ARE NEVER ALONE.
Did I tell you lately that I love you more each passing day?
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
if you need me to help bash someone,
just buzz me, I will call some buddies of mine...promise...
hugs
shakira

Heartspell June 11, 2010 at 3:38 AM

So true, we must find purpose and always have hope.
I think we may find it in loving and giving to others. Very nicely said. Heartspell

morganna June 11, 2010 at 3:56 AM

Thank you for visiting my blog, and thank you for sharing this poem. I hope you feel better soon. I think life is the process of finding that greater purpose. We each have our own journey to our purpose.

Katherine Krige June 11, 2010 at 9:47 AM

Your words fall nicely on the page, but the troubles behind them cause angst. I hope that the cause of your troubles finds a way to its end in the near future. Be well

Wonderful haiku. Very uplifting and inspirational, especially the last 3 lines. Have a wonderful day.

Emmanuel Ibok June 11, 2010 at 2:38 PM

The beauty of this haiku is the fact that it is an obvious reality. We seem to strive for the never ending cycle of vanity which we eventually leave with none meanwhile forgetting or choosing to forget the main course, why we are here...Nice work friend...Cheers!!!

shakira, you are so funny. thanks for being such a sweet, good friend! you have been so supportive since we first met in the blogosphere. we should really have coffee one day.

no bashing needed. a good friend of mine had a stroke last saturday and it affected me so much. maybe because she is just my age and it was like a reality-check and eye opener for me.

again, thanks so much for your sweetness and kindness.a big hug for you, dear friend. =)

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward to the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage and confidence." ~ Og Mandino

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.
