Riding The Tide

"I am not afraid of storms, for
I have learned how to sail my ship."
~Louisa May Alcott~

I've made it through difficult times before. And I always landed on my feet... maybe not dancing, maybe not always sure about what to do next. But things always turned out for the best. It was good that I kept my sense of humor and never lost my smile. I may not always have all the answers but - at least - I am willing to hope... and try... and believe.

I went through rough waters last July. Little did I know then that it was some sort of a rite of passage for me. I was at a crossroads again and I didn't know which way to go.

And so, I let the tide lead me.

Slowly, the new path unfolded. A life-altering change was due. The realization overwhelmed me but it no longer scared me. I knew in my heart that this was meant to happen.

For 15 years, I set my sail in only one direction. In this kind of profession, the courtroom is the ultimate arena for wit, wisecracks and a fervent spirit. Litigation kept my blood alive. The challenge and stress that each case brought emboldened me more.

I never imagined that the day would come when I will say "No More."

But that day has come.... and I am embracing the change.

Happily.

With so much anticipation.

Things always happen for a reason.

I am riding the tide and enjoying the journey.

Give Thanks In Everything

Instead of worrying about the things I don't have,
I will look at what I do have
and realize that I am blessed.
Throughout the course of every day,
I will search for things to give thanks for.
A smile from a stranger, a compliment from a friend,
a blue sky, a green light...
These are all reasons to give thanks.
When night comes, I will write down
five things I am grateful for.
The next night, I will write down five more.
The more I search for blessings,
the more I will find.
Keeping my eyes open
will keep my heart full.

Appreciate the little things;
stop to enjoy a sunset or the smell of a flower.
Look for the happiness and the good in life,
and your life will be happy and good too.

~Barbara Cage~

Be full of awareness
of the beauty around you.
Be full of gratitude
for friends and family,
for the goodness you find in others,
for your health and all you're capable of.

~Barbara Cage~

Look around you
and be thankful.
Count your blessings.
Instead of rushing
here and there,
take the time to
appreciate your surroundings.

~Beth Fagan Quinn~

YOU ARE BLESSED!

You know that it's easy to invest in the best riches of all,
and that precious moments are most likely
to come to those who search them out.
You know that cherished times are to be found
in heart-to-heart conversations,
and that you can have a wealth of beautiful tomorrows...
just by moving ahead of any worries,
moving beyond any sorrow, and
using the present to shape the future.

TODAY IS YOUR MOMENT IN TIME

Whether you're sixteen or sixty, I encourage you to find the magic in this day. Go out of your way to appreciate the deserving things here before you : people who matter, places that will inevitably change, and circumstances that get rearranged all too easily.

Do more than stop and smell the flowers... Search them out. Plant new ones in the places you pass by! Send bouquets of flowers to the people y9ou care about. Remember that there's more to appreciate in this moment than we realize...

Years from now, the truth of this will shine. And one of your sincere regrets will be not knowing how good you had it... at that time. ~Douglas Pagels~

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward to the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage and confidence." ~ Og Mandino

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting, but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.
