Red Roses For Dad
Bright blooms of crimson, petals wide,
A memory of love, my heart’s soft guide.
They speak of warmth, of joy, of grace,
Of moments shared, your smiling face.
Oh, red roses, so vivid, so true,
Each petal whispers, “I remember you.”
Your favorite flower, a beacon of cheer,
Now carries my love when I draw near.
At your resting place, I gently lay,
A bouquet of roses to brighten the day.
They stand like sentinels, strong and proud,
A tribute of love beneath the cloud.
Though you’re gone, your spirit remains,
In laughter, in lessons, in life’s refrains.
The roses I bring are more than they seem—
They’re pieces of love, woven with dreams.

Soft feelings flow through this...
A beautiful and loving tribute to your father. God bless him.
Such a beautiful poem of remembrance. I love that the roses are pieces of love, woven with dreams. Lovely rhyming too.
Your poem touched me, Bing. I really like the simile ‘they stand like sentinels, strong and proud’, and had to stem a tear when I read the final stanza.
"They’re pieces of love, woven with dreams."
I, who rarely rhyme, find it charming in your poetry, especially this one. You could sing it, the loving opening, the surprise in the middle (He's no longer living) and this astounding close.
Thank you, Rajani.

Flowers hold so much heart even before they are picked and lain upon a grave. Beautiful
So many lines to love in this poem, but I especially liked,
"They stand like sentinels, strong and proud,
A tribute of love beneath the cloud."
