Remembrance (2011)

a distant star glimmers
the coldness of the night
makes me shiver
i hear you whisper
i shudder at the thought

you live in my heart
you never left
that's why i still hear you
and feel your love as
cold air embraces me

every time i lay awake
anxious at uncertainties
you rush to ease my mind
if only you could
wipe away my tears

memories of rainbows and
of echoing laughter
unfulfilled dreams and
promises lie in their wake
bittersweet remembrance of past

We all feel the same for our lost loved ones. I am so sorry for your loss.
It's so interesting to find Swami Vivekananda's quote here. Love this too.

    1. Thank you, Sumana Roy. I also love your piece but I seem to be having difficulty leaving comments in some of the blogs such as yours. I am re-learning how to blog again.

  5. ". . . feel your love as
cold air embraces me" I, too, missed the embrace most, though in so many ways my love had not left. A fine remembrance.

  8. Beautifully moving. I love the way the poem open with a distant star and a cold night, awakening memory and loss while at the same time the comfort and security of an eternal love. Bittersweet, but tenderly expressed.
