the
swinging
rhythm
was
spellbinding
the
pounding
beat
was
enthralling...
she slipped on
her white
nightgown
as she
prepared
for bed
but the music
playing
outside her
room
beckoned her
to heed
its call
listen she did,
and more...
the
swinging
rhythm
was
spellbinding
the
pounding
beat
was
enthralling...
she stepped
into
her red
stiletto heels
and started
swaying
with her eyes
shut closed
she finally
let go
unaware
of the eyes
that were
watching...
the
swinging
rhythm
was
spellbinding
the
pounding
beat
was
enthralling...
he knew
she was
still mad
at him
but the
lovely sight
was too much
to resist
he took
his chance
and took her
in his arms
their eyes locked
his gaze
drowned
her anger
there was
nothing left
but
burning
passion...
passion...
the
swinging
rhythm
was
spellbinding
the
pounding
beat
was
enthralling...
and so,
together
they slowly
swayed
to their hearts'
content
as if
in a
trance
they danced
like
there
was
no
tomorrow...
tomorrow...
the
swinging
rhythm
was
spellbinding
the
pounding
beat
was
enthralling...
unbeknownst
to them
their
time
was
running
out
and
tomorrow
would
never
come...
the
swinging
rhythm
was
spellbinding
the
pounding
beat
was
enthralling...

Beautiful and so bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day honey. ♥♥♥
bittersweet indeed... love the dancing the anger and sorrow away...so sad that there was no tomorrow though...
ReplyDeleteouch...i was so happy swinging in the rhythm i did not see the end coming....it is a testiment though to getting over our angers and getting on with life because we dont know what is next....
ReplyDeletegreat use of repetition to get movement in a piece....
The repetition works both sensually and mournfully here -- very well done. Thanks much for participating in the prompt with this sad poem. K.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bitter sweet end here.. Loved how the refrain worked.

Great use of the repetition in your sweet but sad poem, Bing Yap!
ReplyDeleteA bit chilling...it's as though I want to hear the rest of the story.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you--it's been a while.

ReplyDeleteGabriella, thank you.♥
ReplyDeleteVictoria, it feels good to blog again and it’s also nice to see you back here. The rest of the story is now history.♥
ReplyDeleteI didn't see that end coming either which made it even more sad...given their passionate dancing and reconnecting after some anger between them.
ReplyDeleteLove the repetition of your stanza too.
And how hopeful a quote by Swami Vivekananda...love him.
Thanks for dropping by, Bodhirose. I’m glad you like the poem.
ReplyDeleteHow sad in the ending but I love the dancing rhythm ~ Enjoy life as it comes ~
ReplyDeleteI wake up everyday with a smile on my face and sing praises to this good spell caster called Dr, Godday who has done me a great favor by rescuing my relationship from break up. I used to think that I have a perfect relationship till when my lover started coming home late and everyday he gives me different excuses then I decided to keep a close eye on him then I discovered that he was having an affair with another girl. I was heartbroken because i trusted him so much and knowing that he has a secret relationship it hurts me a lot. But I thank all those who placed the contact details of Dr, Godday on the Internet and today my relationship has been restored with love and care than ever before. If you are in any kind of relationship or marriage stress I will do you a favor by dropping the contact details of Dr, Godday which is via email: goddayspiritualhome@gmail.com Or Call/Whatsapp +1{919}4956404.
